How Can I Exchange Data with Other Applications?
Export Features
Web Research allows to export data in the following ways:
- Export as HTML files plus images and style sheets.
(Metadata like original URL, date saved, comments, or categories
will be lost by default, but can be automatically inserted as page
header or footer.)
- Export as mht / mhtml files ("Single File Web Page").
Includes HTML plus images in one single file. (Metadata like original URL, date saved, comments, or categories
will be lost by default, but can be automatically inserted as page
header or footer.)
- Export as .chm file (compiled Help file).
- Create Web Page Presentations to build a collection of
linked documents that you can display in every browser.
(Metadata like original URL, date saved, comments, or categories
will be lost by default, but can be automatically inserted as
page header or footer.)
- Send document selections to Microsoft Word (including source URL and date).
- Export as Web Research Document Package, which is the
best way to share documents with other users who have
Web Research installed. All Web Research metadata will be preserved in its
original form.
Programming Interface
Web Research has a programming interface (based on COM), which you can use to
access or write data into Web Research archives. For example, you
can use Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), which is included in
every Microsoft Office application. If you are interested,
have a look
here.
Direct database access
Web Research stores all content in SQL databases. If it is important
for you to access underlying data directly you can open the tables
and query data.
- For security reasons the .csa files are password protected MS Access
databases. The password is mentioned in the
Web
Research Programming Documentation.
- In the case you are using network collections you can access the MS
SQL Servers databases by default.
