Notes about the Firefox Extension for WebResearch
The Firefox extension basically supports the same features as the
WebResearch integration in Internet Explorer. However, you will achieve
better saving results if you install
ScrapBook 1.2
because the WebResearch Firefox extension can then use some of its saving
libraries.
Further notes:
- The Firefox browser cache is not used.
All WebResearch downloads are retrieved through WinInet, which is the Internet
download component from Windows. WinInet can
only access the Internet Explorer cache ("Temporary Internet Files"
folder) and not the cache of Firefox. Thus, all pictures from Web pages
will be downloaded from the Web once more while saving with WebResearch.
(does not apply if Scrapbook is installed)
- Problems with pages that use nested frames.
Solution: Save one single frame with the shortcut menu.
- WebResearch Toolbar is not movable
Firefox does not support movable toolbars. You can only move single
buttons.
- WebResearch features that are available in Internet Explorer but
not in Firefox:
- Edit Web pages
- Highlight text in Web pages
- Set reminder for follow up
Solution: Use these features in the WebResearch application, where they
are available after saving the page.
